Terrestrial Magnetism
I offer a playful, earnest and personal reflection of our interconnectedness to fellow living beings on this fragile blue planet.
'Terrestrial Magnetism' is a 2021 solo exhibit at Fitchburg State University and connects works from a few recent series. The Venus works are talismans inspired by prehistoric fertility figures. Four paintings from ‘The ground waits and the sky listens’ explore the dense energy of the earth while hopefully inspiring care for the delicate wildness that grows from it. ‘Sun eaters, pollen seekers’ highlights figures of native pollinators and the native plants that they consume, nest, pupate, and metamorphose on.
Gravity & weightlessness, expansion & contraction, and the magnetic pull of earth’s fecundity tie the works together
