In “Berries and Bones” decomposition is at work. At the opposite end of the food chain, matter dies, decays and fungi reorders flesh into plant material. Objects are constructed of paper mache, ink on cut vellum, felt, acrylic paint, painted wood, stuffed nylon, clay, waxed felt, cut paper and include my personal rock and wood collection. In addition to being an exploration of tactile media, it is a continuation of research that I began in 2011 of the grizzly bear’s diet. The concept first materialized in watercolor paintings.
