Grizzly Bears have recently been removed from the Endangered Species from their status as a threatened animal in 2007. Star Thistle is an invasive plant that is spread throughout the United States. In this piece, I have included the two species as strange opposites. One is a large powerful predator that is both feared and revered but has been pushed back into pockets of forests in the US. The other is a small yet obtrusive plant that is silently taking over vast amounts of land. Together they inhabit the space of the drawing, the grizzly large and pronounced and the star thistle quietly carving out its shape in the form of negative space.
